Introductions Thread

Postby MILLANDSON » 02 October 2011, 08:56

Since it's the staple of pretty much every internet forum, I thought we should have a new Intros thread, to go with the new forum!

I'll start off with myself:

I'm Jordan, though my friends call me Milly, and I'm a 24 year old post-grad law student from the UK. I've just finished my 2nd undergraduate degree (in Law, my 1st was in Politics), and I'm currently undergoing a Masters in Legal Practice, where my dissertation is likely to specialise in intellectual property law.

I'm also a playtester for several computer game and tabletop gaming companies, especially Fantasy Flight Games (who make the Warhammer and Warhammer 40k RPGs, and various other board/card/roleplay games), where I've been credited in several books for the Warhammer 40k RPG line.

I also engage in a lot of political activism, both online and in person, and I blog/tweet about that quite a lot. I was brought up a Conservative by my parents, and though I still have some opinions that lean that way, I have become fairly left/centre-left wing in the last year or two, and now support the Liberal Democrats.

Finally, I'm a massive gamer, having been playing computer games since I was about 6 (my first experience of games being using an old Acorn Electron my parents had had before I was born), and I've been gaming ever since, going through Sega (Megadrive/Sega CD/Dreamcast), Nintendo (Game Boy/N64/Gamecube), Sony (PSOne/PS2), Microsoft (Xbox/Xbox 360) and PC gaming. I also play a hell of a lot of tabletop roleplay games, and still occassionally play 40k and Warhammer (though I've not had a chance to play properly in a while, though I'm just starting up collecting again - got about £3000 worth of old models in my cupboard that need repainting! ).

Anyways... enough about me, let's hear about you guys! :D

Howdy,

My name is Seth. I run the NYBBL (New York Blood Bowl League) in upstate NY.

By day I am an Avionics Software Engineer, by night I am a gamer/beverage enthusiast. Recently, I started up my own company DrunkAssGames to peddle one of my game designs that has become popular with my friends.

If you are ever near Binghamton, NY drop me a line and Ill buy you a pint!

Feel a little bit weird telling you about myself. I have a thing about gining away too much personal info on the internet......
During the day I do a job, which is mostly dull, so spend my time reading stuff online.

Anyways, I dont mind telling you I'm from South England and run the Exiles BB League, Exiles Open Tournaments and am captaining the Exiles team for the NAF World Cup in Amsterdam in November.

Aside from Blood Bowl, I also like classic cartoons (Wile E Coyote is my favourite character), RPG's (Cyberpunk2020, Ravenloft and Deadlands), board games (Risk [2210 and Godstorm], BSG, Settlers and stuff like that, oh and monopoly: I've somehow acquired about 14 different sets :)), movies (favourites are Back to the Future and Ghostbusters), sci-fi (Babylon 5 tops my list and gets rewatched about once every 18 months), intoxicating beverages (black russian for choice), coffee (I've normally got about 6 different varieties in the cupboard), good food (I am an ex-chef), street racing (yes, the slightly illegal kind, I drive a Jap-imported Impreza WRX STI), music (as an ex DJ my collection is very ecletic and is nearly filling a TB drive).... I'm sure there's more, but I think that gives the low down on me..... Oh and I have a very understanding girlfriend. We met at Warhammer World on a gaming weekend. We are both geeks and proud :ugeek: :geek:

PS I also once introduced Aber Uni's RPG society to the card game Lunchmoney. We had about 20-25 people playing one game at a time. The next time I went there a lot of people forgot my name and jsut called me Lunchmoney, so the name stuck

PPS If you wanted to ever actually meet me, check out the list of South Coast tournies on TFF, I go to a few (about 6 or 7) each year. I'll probably buy you a drink. And when it's your round I drink black russians ;)

Hi there...

I'm a creature of the night, from Denmark, Europe (litteraly... Work at night, Sleep all day)

Been playing BloodBowl for over 20 years, from TT to LE, and still loving it...
Started out with a Human team, but quickly found out that the bashy ones were more like me, so switched to Chaos

IRL I'm packing Dairy products to most of the country, and in the little spare time i have, I'm playing some good oldfashioned American Football
(Cornerback at the local team)

BTW... Next year I turn 40, but I still like to deliver a good hit, on both the field and the pitch... 8-) 8-)

:P Greetings, Fellow Blood Bowlers...My name is Paul and I'm originally hailing from Melbourne, Australia, yet live in Seattle, Washington nowadays. I'm 35 years old and have been involved with Blood Bowl since 1988 when I slapped together my first human team which was followed by Orcs, Goblins, Skaven, Pro Elf and Halflings. On LE, I'm using an Amazon team and in Auld World play, it's Lizardmen, Goblins, Skaven, Halflings, Dwarves and Nurgle. Professionally, I work in seafood retailing and doing the HR work at my Wife's law firm. When not doing those things, I enjoy the following: Backgammon, cooking, NFL, NHL, NBA, graffiti-areosol art, music ranging from AC/DC to Run DMC, watching classic movies such as Goodfellas, etc. and heaps more. Feel free to PM me if you wish to talk and I'll reply promptly...

Hi all,

I'm Jeff and have been playing Blood Bowl since the late in the 1st Edition and the release of the 2nd Edition. I used to play it a lot, but due to moves and lack of time I was never very active during the release of the 3rd Edition.

Now I'm jumping back in with both feet. I'm using the online game to refresh my skills and strategies before taking part in any board game touraments. I am a member of the NAF under the same user name, and hope to play in some tournments in 2012. I also wanted to see how much I'd enjoy the new edition before investing money in a game board.

Looking forward to some playing fun.

Regards,

Jeff Zimmerman
