Tie breaker system

Postby Netheos » 18 December 2015, 16:50

Hey Coaches,

The last update brought a new Tie Breaker system.
Here are some details on it.

In Ladder

If 2 teams have the same amount of victory, the game check in the following order:
- The number of loss of the two teams. (The player with less loss wins)
- The number of draw of the two teams. (The player with less draws wins)
- The date of the last game played by the two teams. (the team which played the most recently wins)

If the game still can't determine a winner, it's chosen randomly. But this case should be very rare.

In Round Robin

Round Robin points calculation: +3 per win, +1 per draw, +0 per loss.

If two teams are to a tie and the two teams have met before in the competition, the winner is the winning team of this match.
If two teams are to a tie and they haven't met before, or if they met but the match ended as a draw, the winner is chosen randomly. It should be very rare too at the end of a Round Robin competition.

thanks a lot for this information Netheos.

I must say I disagree with this

In case of little division divisions for example it can often happen.

and even for big ones, imagine 2 teams have won all the matchs and made a draw when they met... you will choose randomly the winner of the competition ? :(

There is no way to use the TD average or casualties average ?

Isn't this going to favor Elf teams?

Doesn't seem to in the leagues which use it. Another possibility is "best defence", i.e. lowest TD conceded.

We use TD Difference + CAS Difference. We may change the CAS difference to be .5 points instead of 1 point per though, as the CAS #'s have been averaging on the high side.

The RNG is not broken, you are not "the unluckiest coach in the world" and the computer does not cheat, you just suck.

I don't suppose you could just have teams that are tied for first just duke it out In a sudden death mode. Random just doesn't feel right.

I like TD difference (1.0) + CAS difference (0.5)

That's a nice idea

... creating a whole new system to determine a winner rather than using a persons past opponents in the competition. ... you know ... yeah

To be more precise, our actual tie-breaker list in order is:

1. Total Wins
2. Head-to-Head
3. TD Difference + CAS Difference
4. Goblin Chainsaw Death match (  8-) )
