Still no trace of Slann team ever coming (believe me, I dug around a lot :P ), so I updated the OP with more images for clearer visibility and bumped the thread.

Somehow I suspect GW might not look too kindly on spacetoads in a game with their stamp on it, though. =/

This is what I've read on multiple accounts too, that it's because of Warhammer Fantasy not having these small frogmen anymore and now I know what AlexHolker meant in his comment.
Shouldn't BB be it's own thing though? Even the designer said it was a mistake to make it more like the Fantasy. Worst case, Cyanide's BB should be it's own thing and allow a unique team like this to exist. In the reddit AMA they said GW is open to all discussions, so that's another ray of hope.

The small, agile Slann were removed from GW a long time ago, replaced with the fat toad Slann Mages of the last few editions of WFB. The "small agile" schtick was given to the Lizardman army (Skinks).

I get the Cyanide BB has some leeway, but I imagine GW still want to keep it in line with their IP.

worst case scenario they can reskin and retheme the team (with them having the same stats and skills). That'd be fine.
