30 years playing this game online in olbbl and fummbl and in various naf tournaments in my state. Unless cyanide is changing this it would be helpful if they told us because some people only know the rules through this game which all are not the real rules. Cyanide seems to have changed figure characteristics prices and who know what else. This is not the real game of bloodbowl. People who play this game will have trouble playing in real life.
For a kickoff
Place the ball
Roll on kickoff table
Resolve the kickoff result
Roll d8 for direction
Roll d6 for how many spaces to where the ball lands
Now if no one is in that square to attempt a catch like a player moved for high kick or a kickoff return player then ball bounces d8
Those are NOT the Kick-Off rules, which you'd know if you'd been playing online for 30 years (which is quite good, seeing as the game is only 28 years old, and in this format only 21 years old).
For a kick-off: (Direct from the rule book)
1. Place the ball on the pitch
2. Scatter ball to determine where the ball is about to land
3. Roll on the Kick-Off table
4. Resolve the Kick-Off table result
5. Bounce/ catch/or touchback the ball
Kick-Off Return is used after #2 but before #3. "It allows the player to move up to 3 squares after the ball has been scattered but before rolling on the Kick-Off table
There is no wind blowing from weather changing that would affect the kickoff.
Apart from the specific addition listed in #7 Changing Weather on the Kick-Off Table: "If the new Weather roll was a Nice
result, then a gentle gust of wind makes the ball scatter one extra square in a random direction before landing
And as the Kick-Off table is rolled AFTER moving a KoR player, the ball would not land in the square they were in (if you moved to the highlighted square).
Now, if it's not working after High Kick then that is a bug, but given that you don't know the Kick-Off sequence then you need someone else to checkthe replays to be sure.
